From “bro mode” to “bae mode” to fiancés! Sometimes love is an immediate spark that quickly grows into a steady flame. Other times, it’s a slow burn. Although she had a crush on him in High School, they were just friends. It wasn’t until COVID sent their entire college home when their weekly fishing trips turned into a love they could no longer ignore.
After working together at a Camp Northfield, Kent decided the moment was right to pop the question. Although it rained all day, the sky opened up as they sat on a rooftop and watched the sunset together. It was there where he dropped down to one knee and asked Caroline to marry him. He proudly slipped his grandmother’s ring onto her finger as she said, “Yes!”
She became the best catch of his life!
On a hot evening in late summer, we strolled down rows of apple trees at Carter Hill Orchard with Caroline & Kent. We scuffed our way through the freshly cut grass clippings and chatted about their new jobs. Both of them give to young people who need guidance & love. It kind of blew me away how these two recent college grads are so willing to jump right into the messy, broken lives of teenagers and show the love of Christ. It’s not easy to work in an environment where screaming matches & violent outbursts are common place. Never mind to be a source of safety and care for those same students. But Caroline & Kent are joyful servants.
Their quick one liners and reserved sense of humor does good for the soul. I had to make sure to pipe down so I could hear all the hilarious things they said under their breath in between poses.
I am truly grateful for my time with these two. I can’t wait to celebrate their wedding with them in December!
